Okay, today was really weird. In English class we did part of a short skit called "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" and the sound effects were hilarious! Also, everyone started out with a normal voice, but slowly gained southern accents. I didn't have a part, but that's okay with me. I'm really bad at public speaking. Even in front of my friends, unless I have a mask on (but it has to be an awesome mask).

Chloe . . . I'm so glad you enjoyed the skit. i can't wait to continue it tomorrow. I also loved the sound effects (and the crazy lighting -- thanks Trevor). My favorite had to be the meteor-inspired-southern accents.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vulnerability about public speaking. When I was in 7th grade, I HATED speaking in public. I'll never forget having to do a speech in front of my English class about "How to go fishing" that year. I think my face was bright red for a week. Now, I'm a teacher . . . public speaking is my JOB. Go figure! Hopefully by the end of the year, you'll feel a bit more comfortable with it too!
me too!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about hating public speaking. When I was in 4th grade I had a really bad stutter. It just came on suddenly and did not go away. I tried speech therapy but I didn't like it and it did not help. People would make fun of me for my stutter and I hated speaking publicly. My stutter is gone now though :) I also thought the southern accents were really funny. I really liked how it almost seemed to fit the story, like it was written to be spoken in southern accents.
ReplyDeleteP.s. For anyone who does not know what stuttering is, its when you kind of feel like a word can't come out and you repeat a sound or another word over and over again. I don't remember what causes it though.
